Since elections are soon, I want to share the characteristics I look for in a candidate. Rather than mentioning whether they are in on “political team” or the other. I would look for specific characteristics such as kindness. Not just the kindness that they show in recent events—probably for the election—but from their past. Events that show their true personality. Another is their body language. Someone can put off a lot of their genuine feelings by their body language. If you look carefully, you might notice them be uncomfortable if they are saying they agree with something that only makes them appear to be a genuinely good person with good perspective and ideas. “All Americans have different ideas about the importance that character plays in the job performance of the President. Considering all of the hats that a President must wear, perhaps the symbolic role that the President plays is most affected by character. Presidents must somehow symbolize what American citizens believe to be the essence of their country” (ushistory.org). They must have almost the same ideas as the majority of this country.
Personally I would like to see a candidate that talks about important situations that have not been spoken about by other candidates in the past. I do not like ideas that are too controversial, but some are better for everyone even with that problem. One example is trying to help with global warming. I, personally, do not try my hardest to prevent this problem, but i understand the importance of this and why we should try to prevent it. I would want a candidate that shows that they are listening to what the people have to say to the ones with power. I would not oppose to them saying they do not agree with some things, but at least showing that they pay some attention and put thought into what the ones voting have to say. “They must represent what is valued now and in the past. But even more importantly, they embody the direction of America’s future” (ushistory.org). Our future is just as important as the present and past. I would like to see what the candidate has in store for our future as a country.
