Childhood Toys

Throughout my childhood, I went through many toys and obsessions. They were mostly just short phases that I went through and got over shortly after. Even though I had these short phases in my life, some of the toys I had were always in a theme, which was dolls. that seems pretty obvious, because when you think “What should I get a girl toddler for her birthday or Christmas?” your first thought would be dolls. My obsession with dolls were a little different in my opinion, though.

I would have these small obsessions and go through phases as I grew. Those obsessions reflected on the type of dolls I asked my mom to purchase. For example, I went through a “wanting to be a mermaid” phase, meaning I had my mom buy me a lot of mermaid dolls. I even asked her to buy me a fake pool for my dolls. Another example is Monster High dolls. Those were dolls that were based on a show that I watched when i was little. The characters were all children of common monsters that you would think of at halloween, including Frankenstein’s daughter. I wanted every single one of the dolls that they sold so that I could practice braiding hair on them. I almost got them all until I lost interest soon after.

Another interesting obsession I had that showed in the toys that I had were cars. I loved cars for no known reason to this day. I always had an interest for cars and wanted realistic ones in toys. I had a mini Ford truck and a mini Volkswagen buggy as well. These small obsessions I had when I was younger really showed in the toys that I owned.
